The fishing has been exceptional this spring at Blue Mesa!
Blue Mesa Lake Trout
Opportunities for trophy lake trout have been fantastic with countless, sizeable fish being boated. We’ve had the privilege of helping many clients land their first, or personal best lake trout this spring so far. We are still in peak season! If you haven’t had a chance to get out and chase trophy lake trout with us yet this spring, there is still time and we still have some availability. Shoot us a call or text at (970)784-6555 or visit our website for more details.
Blue Mesa Action Fishing
The brown trout bite has also been extraordinary this year. Both trolling and casting have been producing high numbers of healthy fish each day. We have also been seeing Kokanee and catching a few so far; this should continue to improve as water temps heat up.
Antero Reservoir
Antero has been open for a bit now and the water temps are up in the mid 40’s the trout are actively cruising and looking to eat. The brown trout are especially eager but catching good numbers of rainbows and cutbows as well. Overall the size and quality of fish are great. Both trolling and casting a variety of patterns has been productive. As usual the key to this lake is to stay on the move and find those pockets of active fish.
Taylor Reservoir
My estimation is 10–14 more days before Taylor Reservoir is open water.
McPhee Reservoir
Mcphee opened up mid-April and the trout trolling and casting for small mouth has been great! The team and I are looking forward to seeing many of you this season and are excited for another great open water season! As summer heats up, the kokanee fishing will be producing great numbers of mature kokanee salmon.
