Colorado Kid Friendly Fishing Trips

At Sport Fish Colorado we encourage every opportunity to teach the next generation of fishermen to fish! We also understand the value of spending quality family time out on the water. Most of our lakes that we are permitted on have a good action option to keep your kids entertained. One of our favorites is a trout or salmon trolling trip! Most of the time, our three hour half day trips are the perfect amount of time to get the kiddos into some action and back to the dock before they get antsy.

Our guides, many of which are fathers, understand the importance of good instruction and continued help while your kids are enjoying the fishing trip. Our guides are patient and friendly. Each guide also carries the appropriate safety gear while maintaining a clean and safe boat environment for kids of all ages. More often than not, your guide will have the appropriate sized life-vest for your child. If your child has their own, please feel free to bring it.

If you are looking for an action packed, kid friendly fishing trip to introduce or plant the seed in your child, than an open water, trout or salmon trolling trip is just for you! **Kids 12 and under are required by Colorado state law to where a life-vest at all times.

Colorado Trophy Trips

Colorado has a variety of lakes and reservoirs that offer opportunities at trophy fish! We specialize in trophy trips for most species, but especially trophy lake trout, northern pike and trout. Our trophy trips are focused around a “go big or go home” mentality where quality is the focus. Like most things in life, big risks have the potential for big rewards and our Colorado Fishing Guides have put in thousands of hours learning the seasonal behaviors of these big fish and the patterns that have the best potential to put you on the opportunity of a lifetime!

Big trophy fish don’t grow that big overnight so we are very careful in handling these fish and we release all trophy fish and even fish approaching trophy size. We feel that this is imperative in preserving trophy opportunities for future generations to come. We release all lake trout over 22”, northern pike over 24”, and all species of trout over 20” ( and some even shorter depending on the body of water).

In the even that a trophy fish is successfully caught, we will quickly get a length and girth measurement as well as a few pictures so that you can have a replica created if desired! Call for more information and prime bite windows.

Fly Fishing

Colorado and the Gunnison valley has a plethora of great trophy fly fishing trip opportunities and Sport Fish Colorado offers fly fishing in the inlet areas of the Gunnison River, Cebolla Creek, Soap Creek, West Elk Creek, and the Lake Fork of the Gunnison River. These trips are unique because we boat into our access points. The fishing trip itself can be out of the boat or walk/wade. We also offer incredibly action-packed still water fly fishing trips on Antero reservoir throughout the summer.

Other walk/wade options on the Lake Fork, Henson Creek, Cebolla Creek, and Lake San Cristobal are offered by Alpine Outfitters. Fly fishing trips cost a little more since we provide the fly rod and flies.  A 50% deposit is required at the time of the booking.
