Colorado Trophy Trips

Colorado has a variety of lakes and reservoirs that offer opportunities at trophy fish! We specialize in trophy trips for most species, but especially lake trout, northern pike and trout. Our trophy trips are focused around a “go big or go home” mentality where quality is the focus. Like most things in life, big risks have the potential for big rewards and our Colorado Fishing Guides have put in thousands of hours learning the seasonal behaviors of these big fish and the patterns that have the best potential to put you on the opportunity of a lifetime!

Big trophy fish don’t grow that big overnight so we are very careful in handling these fish and we release all trophy fish and even fish approaching trophy size. We feel that this is imperative in preserving trophy opportunities for future generations to come. We release all lake trout over 22”, northern pike over 24”, and all species of trout over 20” ( and some even shorter depending on the body of water).

In the even that a trophy fish is successfully caught, we will quickly get a length and girth measurement as well as a few pictures so that you can have a replica created if desired! Call for more information and prime bite windows.

On and Off the Water Colorado Fishing Classes

If you already have your own boat and equipment and want to learn how to fish a certain Colorado lake or reservoir or for a certain species, Sport Fish Colorado can accommodate you with one of our on or off the water Colorado Fishing Classes. We at Sport Fish Colorado believe that successful fishing, or catching, is all about confidence. Robby Richardson has spent over 10,000 hours on the water over the last 10 years and can cut your learning curve by great margins and increase your confidence with his instruction, knowledge, and experience.

On the water Colorado fishing classes consist of Robby meeting you at the lake and going out on your boat to show you how he would do things with your equipment. Emphasis is on learning where fish are holding at certain times of the year and how he would set your boat and equipment up to get to those fish. These classes are typically offered in the afternoon. If you are more interested in catching a bunch of fish, you should book one of our Colorado guided trips! All of this information can also be learned in one of our off the water Colorado Fishing Classes. Both fishing classes will include an abundance of tips, tricks, instruction, and stories! Call, text, or email us now @ 719-649-3378 or Robby@SportFishColorado.com!

Our Trophy Fish Policy

Sport Fish Colorado is a major advocate for releasing all trophy fish. Our waters are receiving more pressure than ever before and trophy fish don’t grow to trophy size over night so it is important to make the ethical decision to maintain trophy fisheries at 11 Mile, Antero, Spinney, and Blue Mesa reservoirs.

Sport Fish Colorado will take appropriate measurements and a photo or two for a replica mount, but all species of the following dimensions will be released to grow and fight another day!

Our Trophy Fish Policy:

  • Lake Trout- 24” and greater
  • Norther Pike- 26” and greater
  • Brown Trout- 20” and greater
  • Rainbow Trout- 20” and greater
